Battle of the Wedding DJ - The DJ vs the iPod

The ipod vs the DJWe live in San Jose, California and our San Jose DJ and Band demand for a live dj or a live band has been very low lately.

The question is why is this the case?

When I began djing back in 1991 we were in a bit of a recession and people were cutting back on extravagant weddings. The brides would cut back on full service dinners and go buffet instead. They would trim back on their head count or purchase less flower arrangements. However, the first thing that brides are cutting today are things that can easily be duplicated. Well, so they think. Music is so easily attainable nowadays that it seems easy to download a bunch of songs and cut out the DJ. In the past, brides would never cut the DJ from their wedding list. But that certainly is not the case today.

The DJ offers something that an iPod cannot offer other than music. Someone has to actually set up the pa system and amplification. That means that you'll have to go around asking your cousins and uncles if they wouldn't mind volunteering for this task. If they do and if you find someone who is a musician or they themselves a DJ then you are in luck.

Then consider the fact that while at the wedding or party no one is ever happy with the music playing. Believe me, I've done hundreds of events and everyone always fights over the music. So the question is: Who's going to be the mediator that will pacify everyone and actually change the music.

My third and final point is that the DJ serve as a Master of Ceremonies. He is properly dressed in whatever you want him to wear. I've seen DJs dressed in a Hawaiin Tropical shirt and shorts djing a wedding. He will announce the important events of the wedding (ie. first dance, cake cutting) in whatever style you want. Again the announcement styl can range from a Michael Buffer ("Let's Get Ready To Rumble..") to a low key and soft spoken wedding DJ. He also serves as your coordinator unless you happen to hire a wedding coordinator.

The ipod versus the DJ. I hope that you'll agree that the DJ is worth it. Especially for something that is as important as your wedding.A Classy Affair DJ Entertainment provides San Jose DJs, San Jose Bands, San Jose Musicians, and San Jose music groups for parties, weddings, and other events. San Jose DJs Specialized

San Jose DJ company A Classy Affair has wedding DJs in San Jose, CA. The company has over twenty djs to chose from and the cool thing is that they are all different.

After a while DJs start to look the same and sound the same. They must go to a special mandatory DJ training where someone teaches them to grow a goatee and have a cheezy personality on the microphone.

A Classy Affair DJ are different from your typical DJs. The thing is that they all have a specialty of some kind. For instance, they have this guy named DJ Leland who is pretty cool because he's also a piano player.

There's DJ Jose who is considered the "Latin King" of the DJ group.

Then there's a guy who specializes in turntables and a laptop loaded with tons of mp3's named DJ Raheem. He's pretty cool for a party that is looking for a non-stop mix.

This company is tough to beat, unless you're looking for the cookie cutter typical wedding DJ with the goatee and the cheezy wannabe-announcer personality! No offense if you fit this description (sorry other djs A Classy Affair DJs are classy).

San Jose DJ Band Live Music - Ethnic Weddings Not Affected By The Bad Economy

San Jose DJ Band Live Music - Ethnic Weddings in San Jose, California

According to a recent article dated November 2, 2008 by San Jose Mercury News writer Lisa Fernandez states that Indian Weddings buck the trend that affect most of us in the wedding business. She says that Indian Weddings have not slowed down during these tough economic times like their American counterparts. According to the Lisa Fernandez, Indian parents save for their daughters wedding as they would save for college. They have saved and planned for their daughter's wedding day for a long time unlike most American couples who have to pay the wedding on their own.

The Bridal Association of America says an average American wedding costs approximately $28,000 with an average guest list of 175 people. Indian weddings cost anywhere from $50,000 to $75,000 with an average of 500 people on the guest list. With all those people eating and enjoying the party, the size of the banquet halls needed to accommodate these weddings. Big weddings equal bigger budgets, there is just no way around it.

A Classy Affair DJ & Band Entertainment specializes in weddings, and yes we also perform at Indian weddings. In fact, we have performed at many Indian weddings since we started our business 17 years ago. Indian ceremonies and Indian wedding receptions need an experienced band leader and or DJ. Our prices for live music and disc jockey music range from very low price to a premium price based on the quality of the performer and sound system required.Indian weddings have important traditions that need to be understood. At the beginning of the wedding ceremony, the groom is paraded in with a full entourage of family and friends. What comes next is a long ceremony which requires soft traditional music in the background. The Indian wedding reception is upbeat and full of non-stop music. Our Indian DJs understand the music well and the time honored traditions that are very important to many Indian families.
